Bush is right (for once, mark your calendar!) you don't just go releasing
intelligence willy nilly if you want to get more. (read up on Enigma...
Churchill let Conventry get firebombed to protect the secret, IIRC)

And I'm not saying release the info to Joe Schmo--give the intelligence to
people who will use it.

You really mean give it to the UN so they can leak it...

Leak it to the inspectors, yes.

Leak it to the general media, prob'ly not.

So back to the 'Merican xenophobic tendancies where the rest of the world's
concerned?  Wait 'til something like Pearl Harbour happens again before you
take any action outside your borders?

Well which way are you arguing here?

If you think we 'murricans should be the world's policeman it's aw'fly darn
clear to me that Iraq desperately needs waxing, and has, since about 10 days
after they signed the cease fire. (but they aren't the only ones)

How 'bout a coherent foreign policy--one that does not overlook the
atrocities of some nations 'cause they're buddy buddy with the oil tycoons
but comes down hard on other nations that don't give a rat's pettoote about
'Mericans.

How 'bout a system of gov't that can't be white-washed into invading a
country under the guise of 'axis of evil' when Saddam & Co. really had
*nothing* to do with 9-11, which is how this whole thing started...

How 'bout telling the truth where this information is concerned?  "We have
the proof!  We can't show you, tell you, or even remotely discuss it--y'all
just have to trust us!"  Trust Dubya?  Name one thing he has done that's
trustworthy?

Reminds me of a PM of a country that will remain nameless--"The proof is da
proof!  How can you ask for da proof when it is da proof!  It is da proof
because it is proven!"

Ahh, politicians are going to get this world blowed up real good!

It's a small world, and it's getting smaller all the time.

True, but is it relevant?

I think it's pretty relevant--if we start acting like the guy in Afganistan
is our neighbour, that what affects him also affects us, and that if we lend
a helping hand to him instead of the wrong end of a gun, maybe, just maybe,
we'd get a different response from him.

But I'm a naive guy who believes that helping one another, in the long run,
can only be good for all of us.  I'm an anti-xenophobic, anti-gun, liberal
who believes in publicly funded education and medical care.  Ahh, I'm just
Canadian.

Group hug!

(...) Neither. Leak it to the Iraqis. Do you really think the inspection team is free of Iraqi sympathisers? Why do you think the satellite photos show the Iraqis consistently busily bulldozing stuff the day before the inspection team arrives? You (...) (21 years ago, 30-Jan-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
