Like I said, it *does* matter who is at fault, some of the time.

I reject the notion that there is no difference between the person who asks
silly questions and the person who just can't resist scratching the
unscratchable itch. (Duane H. and I had a very fruitful conversation about
that notion a week or so back in regard to our friend the spoofer...)

I have seen two camps here in this thread. Those that wish we both would
shut up because they feel we are equally to blame, and those who wish Scott
would stop with his asinine behaviour. I haven't seen a third camp that
assigns the bulk of the fault to me, (or to a lesser extent, to the other
people that Scott has picked on with his questions in the past) other than
Scott himself. Why is that?

One other minor point, since Scott is likely to post "youch, an insult" in
response to something in this post. Insults and truth are not mutually
exclusive. I've insulted him, yes, but I haven't said anything about his
behaviour that isn't true, and everyone knows it, except Scott.

The above is not something that could have been taken to email, sorry.

Larry,
You really are being obtuse. We could all speak many truths about many users
here, but most of us do not - as we know it is insulting and because we are
civil. I am happy for you to continue to insult me (just like, to a certain
extent, I was happy for Matt to insult us all) as the more you do it, the
weaker it makes you look.

Further, I find the straw poll you have taken above to spectacularly
ridiculous. I could note that the consensus of views posted here is that you
did indeed fabricate the point I am questioning you on - but even I know
that is rather pointless.

All I ask Larry is that you be willing to justify the points you make –
people may respect your argument more if you could justify yourself. Just
like you have not done here:
http://news.lugnet.com/off-topic/debate/?n=11051

Is it too much to ask that you be willing to justify yourself?

(...) Wellll, one of you are anyway. (...) How so? (...) What consensus is that? What I think is that he made an educated guess. When you are quoting government statistics, those are also educated guesses. So his statistic is as valid as the numbers (...) (23 years ago, 21-Jun-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
