Programming does require higher brain function, but it tends to be very
different from the critical examination used in debate. I haven't ever
gone deeply into the types of stimulation I get from each activity that
I do, but there are definite differences, and I very much miss some of
the types of stimilation (one I especially miss is the stimulation I get
from role playing gaming). I think the stimilation is even significantly
different between the various tasks involved (design, documentation,
coding, and debugging).

True.  But are problem-solving and critical analysis that different?
The only difference I can see is that the latter is played out against
a second thinking human being (which, granted, is significant).  Is
this why we engage in office politicking over and above what might
be necessary?  A need for engagement and challenge?

Well, the involvement of another person is certainly an important
factor. Like I said, I haven't really dug into what the differences are
between the various mental stimulations that I enjoy, but what I do know
is that I need something beyond programming, and simple social time
doesn't quite cut it, so there is something that my brain wants to still
engage in.

I got the room reserved (I thought I told you and Chris about that).

Yeh, I was just wondering what the specifics were, but I suppose
we can get our ducks in a row closer to the day.

I'm not sure how much specifics we need. When we get there, we'll ask
about a roll-a-way. Right now I am praying that I will be able to get
Friday off, unfortunately it's also a work deadline (which could spell
disaster for my Brickfest attendance if things really fall apart, but
I'm planning on stressing pretty strongly that I've been planning for
this weekend all year, and what's two or three days compared to the fact
that while my deadline is 7/13, the actual date we expect to deliver
code to test is two weeks later).
