In North Carolina, personal possessions in the car are covered by
homeowners/renters insurance, at least by State Farm. There is a sort of
nice little rider which will insure tapes and CDs without deductible. Also,
my comprehensive coverage includes no deductible glass coverage (there is
actually a good reason for this, often, if a window is chipped, it can be
fixed for less than $50, but if not fixed will eventually crack all the way,
it's worthwhile for the insurance company to just pay for the window to be
fixed rather than have you decide it's not worth it, and then come back
later when the whole window needs to be replaced).
