Hmmm...so lets see,the store accepts an item they carried even though it is
now out of stock, and this makes the first one returned to them after a car
was broken into stolen? Yes, more likely than not it was PROBABLY the stolen
items, but with a lack of distinguishing marks or a serial number in the case
of a mindstorms set, it would be impossible to PROVE BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT
that the store WILLINGLY and KNOWINGLY dealt in stolen property. The best bet
would be to have the PD obtain the surveillence tape for the period of time
the returned occurred in. Perhaps there was a rash of vehicle prowls in that
area that day and this could be the lead for an arrest. BUT please maintain
your cool when dealing with an officer, and don't demand they get your
property back that cannot be positively id'd via a unique marking or serial
number, it just won't happen.
