Well, the half-octagonal <part:6066> is "Castle Turret Top 4 x 8 x 2 & 1/3" according to LDRAW, so this one could be similar - perhaps "Castle Turret Corner 7 x 7 x 2 & 1/3". Now, I really hate this piece, but it's been around for eight years now and I would have had no idea what it was if I didn't own set 6076. Does (...) I remember the Pizza To Go set had a white window frame with white shutters on the back of the delivery van. Of course mine are sort of yellow now, its an old set. One could make a case for saying that any colors not available to us, but available to the model shops for LEGOLAND buildings are the rarest. If these (...) (...) Geoffrey, Yes, these are among the most highly prized roof slopes. Take for example the yellow corner slopes - they are among the rarest of all slopes. The low slope is found only in the 7740 Intercity Train, the medium slope is found only in (...) Six (6) black ones come with both the 4554 Metrostation and 2150 Retrostation. Four (4) red ones come with the 633 Red Roof Bricks which is (I believe) still available in Europe. It sounds like you mean the 3x3 low-slope outside corner brick. Interesting work. I suggest eliminating theme-specific whenever it is used as elements have a way of appearing in other themes. Here is an outline of the first levels of the classification system I'm implementing. It's derived from Auczilla categories to some degree, but I limited the number of categories to nine. After thinking about this a lot, I think we need a nomenclature that is similar to the binomial nomenclature that they use for animals. It allows you to describe an arbitrary set of modules, with their associated interdependencies, and then re-build only the modules which have changed and modules dependant upon them. (...) That's fine with me. The only downside is applying updates. When new parts are released for LDraw, I don't update individual partsref images and pages, I just regenerate the whole shebang. Excellent! After looking at them I think that other perspectives are more important than colors. Have you tried experimenting with the ambient light option in povray? One thing I noticed with the DAT explorer is that POV rendered images look _MUCH_ better with the lossless PNG format thatn with JPEG. Perhaps appropriate use of the JPEG smoothing function would help the the tests I did looked bad even at 100% (...) (...) IMHO, the best thing is having both (a) super-quick-loading GIFs and (b) high-quality POV JPEGs, and then letting the user decide which one to view. I would use l3p and povray, but since l3p only runs on wintel, you have to do that part on a wintel box. Here's how I would do it: 1. What's the "best"[1] automated or semi-automated way to render a large number of parts images into GIFs? (It's OK if there are multiple steps or if a final pass has to convert the results from PNG or BMP to GIF.) What I would like to do for the (...) On most LEGO parts that a large enough concealed surface, you find three numbers -- two vary from part to part for the reasons you describe. These are usually one or two (...)
