If I can get somebody to get the nomenclature down, I will offer to set up a
database that will accept the inventories.  I was starting on that same
project, but it was indeed too immense for me to do alone.  I would really
like to see an updated Parts Inventory Repository that would work offline.

As best I can see, it will come in a couple of phases:

#1 - Make a master file of all known available elements that is searchable
across several known naming conventions (Tim Vattima's, Auczilla, TLC
Element#, LDraw #, LDraw name, etc.)

#2 - Make a master file of sets known to exist (already done via Pause)

#3 - Create an updateable database that contains inventories of sets from #2
with pieces from #1.  Allow newly entered data to be uploaded to a central
area.  Allow updates from central area to be added to off-line copies
(inventories and new parts).

Todd has pretty much gotten #2 done, with a few missing items.  Although I
cannot speak for him, I would assume he would give the go ahead to use his
info on this.  I would be willing to do #3 and I spoke with Tim Vattima
earlier and he said that as long as the program was free, he would donate
his data.

That leaves us at step #1.  Ball's in your court.

Has anyone heard anything more about this project?  The site has
apparently not been updated since the 22nd of September 1999.

In the absence of any substantive news, I have embarked on my own
consolidation of piece descriptions and image files.  It is based on
Ldraw images and the descriptions used for online parts auction sites.
I am distilling the important aspects into several MS Access
databases. If anyone would like to discuss this further, I will
entertain their contributions either here or via e-mail.

Meanwhile, let's hope that Sybrand has not been separated from his
Lego too long.

Hello everybody,

I've been working on the Lepanadat project (parts names database) for • some time
now. It doesn't go very fast as I had also much other things to do, so it
probably will take some time before it is finished.
As I'm leaving Switzerland for the Netherlands by the end of the week, I • will
not have much computer access for one or two months, so the project will • slow
down a bit for some time. To show you what I've done so far, I've added • two new
pages. Both are text files, without any pictures or so, just list with • part
numbers and names:

http://members.tripod.com/~Sybrand_Bonsma/lepanadat/overview.txt
This is a text file containing the LDraw parts number and their names. • I've
added about 200 part names used by Tim Vattima to this list already.

http://members.tripod.com/~Sybrand_Bonsma/lepanadat/tv-edit.txt
This is a text file containing all part names from Tim Vattima's set • inventory
that haven't been added to the overview list yet. LDraw numbers for about • 300
or 400 parts are also added to this list, I've to find the Ldraw numbers • for
the other parts yet, which are mainly minifig accessoires/bodies etc. and
Technic pieces. When I've checked all pieces, the part names will be • added to
the overview list.

Mike, I have consolidated Margo's castle/pirate inventories into one file with the fields Set Number, Quantity, Part Description, and Colour. I could extract a list of unique contents of Part Description as well, and I'm working on adding the field (...) (24 years ago, 26-Jan-00, to lugnet.db.brictionary)
