Here is an outline of the first levels of the classification
system I'm implementing. It's derived from Auczilla categories to
some degree, but I limited the number of categories to nine. Each
category can have 9 sub-categories, with a further 9 possible below
each of those, where necessary.
My display section in the database can show up to 35 members of
whatever low-level category is reached. Those groups are therefore
identifiable by the catenation of their category numbers. It's a sort
of Dewey decimal system for Lego elements.
These are the current high-level category names with the first
sub-category names below them. I invite your comments and challenge
you to find a Lego element that cannot be placed somewhere in the
structure. (yes, "misc" pretty well guarantees a spot :-)

| (...) I object to a hard-coded limit of 9 on general principals :-). Seriously though, if there isn't a _really_ good reason for this limit (especially having it as low as 9) then don't do it. Regards, Steve Hodge (25 years ago, 11-Feb-00, to lugnet.db.brictionary)

| Interesting work. I suggest eliminating theme-specific whenever it is used as elements have a way of appearing in other themes. Even decorated tiles that seemingly have no use whatever outside of the theme where they appeared may well migrate. For (...) (25 years ago, 12-Feb-00, to lugnet.db.brictionary)
