Sorry about the problems with the cart - I know from first hand how
frustrating these types of problems are.
I've had a look and it turns out that the server is occassionally getting
overloaded due to the sheer amount of users who are logging in at the same
time.
Basically, the server (which isn't one of the better servers in our
datacenter) is very occasionally running out of RAM. As I write this, there
are currently over 400 users on the site adding items to their carts - not a
huge amount on the global e-commerce scale of things, but enough to cause my
underpowered server to wobble occasionally.
Tonight I will upgrade the RAM in the server (for obvious reasons, I don't
want to take the server down just yet!) This should solve most of the
problems.
In the meantime, I think things will slowly settle down anyway - we had a
HUGE spike in traffic on this server when Jake announced the site and it is
slowly levelling out.
So, once again sorry about the cart issues - it does seem to be affecting
only a very small amount of users, we're still getting lots of surveys in
and carts created. Just try again when you can - you should have more luck.
Richard.
