All,

Richard and I (mostly Richard, thanks Richard!) have been working on a new survey tool to get a better handle on the AFOL part desires. We have been working on a super top secret project – we’ll call it Project X - for many months now, and it’s just about ready for our pilot launch. But as part of this project, we would like to have your feedback on what parts you would most like to see in bulk form. I wish I could tell you more, but trust me, you’ll love the outcome. Don’t forget that because you don’t hear anything from us in a while, doesn’t mean we aren’t working on terrific stuff!

The hope of this project is to be able to quickly and clearly generate a Top 20 list of what specific parts in what specific colors the AFOL community as a whole would like to see us produce.

I can’t promise that we’ll be able to pull off every part request, but we will be listening and factoring your opinions into Project X.

You can fill out the survey (just once per AFOL!) at:

http://www.pabtrak.com/survey/

The Bulk Bricks survey allows you to choose up to 20 items each with up to 10 colors. You can only take the survey once per AFOL, so choose wisely! (But don’t worry…Richard’s super duper “Parts Shopping Cart” allows you to change and modify your selection for days)

Please note that we have included only the current color selection in this survey. Richard has been kind enough to agree to a second version of the survey that is based only on the new and old colors so that we can put a bit more quantitative data to that discussion about what parts should/could be “locked”.

Richard has also been kind enough to open up a special forum on BrikTrak to report bugs (only bug reporting, please). You can find it here:

http://www.briktrak.com/forums/display_forum_topics.asp?ForumID=29

Again, sorry I can’t reveal more than this, but sometimes that’s just how it works. I figured it’s better to get you involved earlier in the process even if I can’t share the details with you!

Jake

Jake,
Thanks for putting this tool up - I’m interested to see what the outcome is.

I’m not going to read into your post anything more than is there, but I’m sure the flames are coming... Your ability (and willingness) to stand up as a lightning rod for LEGO™ is quite amazing! Yesterday, my son and I were discussing “courage” as part of Cub Scouts - I think your continued presence is as good an example as any I could have come up with.

Cool tool! Unfortunately, some things that would be nice, like a rolling garage door pack, require adding 3 or 4 elements to the cart. Same for windows plus panes, and left/right doors. But it’s a great idea!

the rest...

Oh yeah in more colors than Red bricks and Blue / White / Clear Panels Definitely in Blue, White, Black, Yellow, (Classic) Light Grey as far as bricks go, and Yellow, Black, Red, maybe Transparent Black (Smoke), and Transparent Blue for the panels.

I knew others would think of that also! I think that considering what most people will put into a vote of 20 or so parts, it’ll round out in the end. I voted for a lot of plants and a nice assortment of earth tone basic bricks.

I went for lots of SNOT parts, as well as the parts to make big trees and the small baseplates that should be made available separately.

Flex tubing is also a must! It’s great for pneumatics (rigid tubes mean less balloon effect) as well as details such as railings.

I could have picked 100 parts, but I figured that bricks would still be in bulk if anything was, as they are already. 1x1 tiles for lettering are essential as I keep running out of them in several colours.

I also use a lot of Technic liftarms and angle joints. I hated the fact that the #4 angle joint didn’t come out in sets at the same time at the #3 and #5 joints.

I also picked some parts in as many shades of green as possible, for doing scenery.

Since each of us has their own building agenda, I sadly doubt whether my single vote for some parts will ever materialise as bulk parts at a reasonable price. The price in bulk packs must be at least comparable to sets to make a purchase viable. Sadly the parts in Technic bulk packs are twice the price of parts in sets :-(

Thank you very much Jake, this is the kind of community input TLC should be gathering.

I have a question: If I’m not going to buy parts in the new colors, but would love to buy those parts in the old colors, how should I answer the survey? Should I just pick other colors (not new grays and brown) for those parts in this survey, and wait for the second survey to pick things in the original colors?

Marc Nelson Jr.

Jake might want to jump in here, but for now let me answer this.
The second survey is going to be designed to specifically ask what parts you
would like to see in the old colors, whereas the current survey is more of a
general 'what parts would you like to see'.
So, I would recommend that you choose parts you would like to see in other
colors for this survey.
Then when the next survey is launched, you will be able to choose the parts
you want to see in the old grays/browns etc.
Hope it helps,

Richard.

My second time wasn’t the charm either. :( Don’t know if it will help anyone debug but I was adding to the cart a roof category item on both crashes. I didn’t see an email addy on the site anywhere to submit the displayed code to....

Hi Duane,
Sorry you're having so many problems - I understand how frustrating it is.
As I said in this post;
http://news.lugnet.com/lego/?n=1724
we have identified the problem being not enough RAM in the server for
the very high load.
We are going to throw an extra 1gig of RAM in tonight, but obviously I
don't want to do that at the present time as there are currently over
500 users using the application and we would need to take the server down
for a while to install the RAM
Hang tight - we will get it fixed.

Hope it helps,
Richard.

Hey thanks for doing this guys.  I know it will help.  Not to complain, but I
was still having this issue today (I assume you upped the RAM?).  I am using
WinXP, with IE (6? whatever the latest is).  I had the same problem yesterday in
Netscape 7.something.

Do you think the votes I was casting counted?  I never hit submit, so I didn't
think so.  <shrug>

Sorry about the problems with the cart - I know from first hand how
frustrating these types of problems are.
I've had a look and it turns out that the server is occassionally getting
overloaded due to the sheer amount of users who are logging in at the same
time.
Basically, the server (which isn't one of the better servers in our
datacenter) is very occasionally running out of RAM. As I write this, there
are currently over 400 users on the site adding items to their carts - not a
huge amount on the global e-commerce scale of things, but enough to cause my
underpowered server to wobble occasionally.

Tonight I will upgrade the RAM in the server (for obvious reasons, I don't
want to take the server down just yet!) This should solve most of the
problems.
In the meantime, I think things will slowly settle down anyway - we had a
HUGE spike in traffic on this server when Jake announced the site and it is
slowly levelling out.

So, once again sorry about the cart issues - it does seem to be affecting
only a very small amount of users, we're still getting lots of surveys in
and carts created. Just try again when you can - you should have more luck.

Richard.

Happened to me twice on item 19 to 20 transition. I figured that the 19 I chose were good and submitted anyhow. Question is: Did my vote stick at 19 after submission? I wanna do-over!

VERY cool survey there Jake/Richard!  It will be interesting to see what
impact this has on the selection of parts available at PaB.

On a side note.  Is anyone at Lego working on a resource that will present
the current PaB selections to a wider market?  It would be most helpful if
there were somewhere that had a reasonably updated listing of the elements
available at the various stores.  This would allow a much wider group of
customers to take advantage of this great concept.  Personally the closest
PaB to me is over 8 hours away.  This means that the only way to take
advantage is ordering over the phone.  With the quantity of different parts,
it just isn't practical to get an accurate idea of what you might be missing
during a phone call.

Funny you should meantion that Greg - I am working on precisely that type of
application. If you go to the PaBTrak homepage at www.pabtrak.com , in the
right hand panel, there is a VERY brief explanation of what the site is
going to be;

"What is PaBTrak.com?
The main functionality of PaBTrak.com is currently under development and
will be available shortly.
This site will be the place to come to find out which LEGO® pieces are
available for purchase at Pick-A-Brick in the LEGO® stores worldwide.
PaBTrak.com will be launching soon, so watch out for announcements in all
the usual places!"

The site is being written right now and should be ready soon(ish). I am
hoping to get as much help from various sources both from inside the LEGO
company and from members of the community as well.
Oh - and based on the current experience of my server, I'll be ordering a
brand new one before I launch the site!!

The site is very much intended to be by the community, for the community and
I will be posting a request for help message within a few weeks so those who
may want to help can volunteer.
Stay tuned for more information!

Hope it helps,

This is excellent news Richard!  Would be happy to help in any way I can
although I don't know how much that could be since I don't live anywhere
close to a PaB.  Rumor has it that they are getting some form of PaB at the
Lego outlet close by.  If that comes through then you can count on me to
keep updated information available for the site.

Thanks for all your effort!

This sounds absolutely brilliant . . . . BUT

There are no Pick-A-Brick outlets in my country (New Zealand) not even a Lego
Brand store, and I have not heard even a rumour of one opening here, so I guess
this is just one more of those things I can just drool over and wish.

Thanks - Ken

Wow! That is the best LEGO news I have heard in a long time. What a great idea.
Big thanks to you and Jake for making this happen.

My one and only complaint about the survey (which I just took and it worked
fine):

No 1x1 tiles!

Hi, Richard,

first things first, could you please use your name instead of
"BrikTrak.com" for the postings? I tend to communicate with people, not
with a website...

This PAB tracker is the first sensible idea by Lego since the general
introduction of the PABs, and is long overdue. Nice to see that this
kind of service might one day come from the point where the information
is available first-hand instead of the necessity to rely on the fans
efforts to do this (there is already a working PAB tracker on the net,
in case you did not know, but it has to rely on sightings by the users,
and has some other shortcomings).

A capability to mail order those bricks would be a great idea not only
for those who have to drive for a day to reach the nearest one.

A possibilty to tell TLC "I am missing this brick in that colour (and
would purchase X kilograms)" would be a nice addition to get useful
feedback for you (instead of that disoriented survey you and Jake
conduct where nobody knows what it will yield).

Yours, Christian

Sounds simple enough, but I need a context to answer the question in. Am I to reply with my most important 20 bricks by my typical volume? Or with the 20 bricks on my “most wanted” list that changes from week to week (i.e., bricks I really need, but not necessarily a lot of)?

Put another way, I would put 100 1x8 chrome tiles ahead of 5000 2x4 white bricks, but long term I would NEED the white bricks a lot more. The problem is that demand is fueled by scarcity as much as by consumption.

And given that 2x4 white bricks by the 1000s are more important to me, volume wise, than 1x8 chrome tiles, I would buy the tiles at lego.com prices but not the bricks because the tiles would have no other source and, even if they did, thet would be more expensive elsewhere because of scarcity, whereas the 2x4s at $0.14 (current price in bags of 25) are cheaper via other venues (principally BrickLink).

Or is the operative word in your question “bulk”, meaning more than just 25 or 100 at a time? If you are asking what I would like to be able to buy by the 1000s at BrickLink competitive prices that would be readily available for years to come, that would steer me in a direction different from my top 20 needs because-I-can’t-get-them.

Very good questions... and none of them are questions I can answer. :) Basically, you’ll have to choose your top 20 based one whatever internal criteria you choose. You’re trying to answer the question “What do I want to have access to in quantity”.

Jake-

OK, although you can’t answer your final restatement of the question does clarify things a little.

I’ll take the survey to mean “What are the parts I most would like to buy in volume, independent of whether I already have a good supply (“good” meaning good price and good quantity) but assuming that these parts would be at a good price.”

This is one of your biggest communication handicaps, Jake. You always
promise Wow! Great! New! Things! We! All! Will! Like! and then you
either stop a few inches short, or things start to go *really* bad
(remember the "Absolutely Great New Castle Sets"? The "Great News" that
bley should be made universal instead of grey?).

This time it is the case of a few inches short again.

You should have noticed by now that AFOLs have quite complex purchase
patterns. Some buy large quantities of a limited range of parts, some
buy small amounts of many different lots, some buy heaps of sets to
butcher them, and each pattern has its advantages. And propably anyone
here uses an individual mixture of all thes acquisition methods.

The problem is that the kind of bricks I whould choose depends on how it
will be offered. E.g. if it was a kind of real bulk ordering (like
purchasing those cardbord boxes used to fill up the PAB in Cologne,
which contain e.g. 1000pcs 2x4 of one colour and which I would buy if
they would not ask a ridiculus US$250(!) for those 1000 bricks) my
selection is vastly different from what it sould be if you were talking
about PAB walls or about "5 pieces at a ridiculous price at S@H" pack.

Basically, you'll have to choose your top 20 based one whatever internal
criteria you choose. You're trying to answer the question "What do I want to
have access to in quantity".
You don't offer a reasonable way to decide here. As I said, a few inches
short, again.

And yes, the colours that would really count as universal are missing
from the selection, anyway.

Yours, Christian

This is great.  I have a couple of questions:

- I noticed there are no patterned parts in the lists, was this intentional?  I
for one would love to see a bulk pack of certain patterned parts.

- Not all of the currently produced colors are listed; Chrome Gold jumped out at
the most notible.

Thank for the hard work

Yeah, the chrome colors are a bit tricky, as they actually require modifications
to the mold. (The parts are slightly smaller in order for the post-chromed part
to be normal size. The chrome application is actually pretty think in production
terms)

If you redo this survey at some time I suggest that you include some of the
obvious groups like all basic brick (1x1,1x2,1x3,1x4,1x6,2x2,2x4,2x6).

Or you could have another more focused survey about what proprotions of basic
brick sizes would make a good bulk pack (i.e. 50% 1x4, 10% 2x4, 5% 1x2, etc)

Jake,

I've not yet filled out the survey, but I intend to do so.  However, I had some
comments.

It might be more efficient to ask, "which pieces/colors should *not* necessarily
be offered in bulk?"  For example, I firmly believe that you (LEGO) should
produce bulk packs of the ubiquitous, see-it-and-everyone-knows-it's-LEGO 2x4
brick in **every** color you (LEGO) use.  (Well, maybe not the Chrome Silver and
the Chrome Gold, as those might be more expensive to produce... But then, if
this were the case, you [LEGO] could always sell those two colors for a
correspondingly higher price.)

Also, since this survey does not list the Recently Discontinued Three Colors of
Doom (you know which ones I refer to) as choices available, I consider *this*
incarnation of the survey to actually be of less use (to me, as a customer) than
the future one which *will* list Those Three Darned Colors.

Nevertheless, I thank you (Jake) for taking the time and effort to continue
making LEGO cognizant of (and attentive towards) us AFOLs.  (Even when some of
us forget the _A_ in AFOL.)

Thanks,
Franklin

They are also expensive enough on BrickLink that S@H bulk prices should be very competitive.

Ditto.  I've only got 7 parts on my list so far, as I think over others, but 1x1
tiles are a glaring omission.  That would have been one of my 20.

Okay - sorry, but I can't leave that one unanswered.
The server was down as I was upgrading the memory to something that more
resembles a web server. This is now done and hopefully the site should
behave a lot better.
The problems we had with the PaBTrak survey were due entirely to the fact
that the server that PaBTrak is running on is quite old, underpowered and up
until a few minutes ago had an unrealistic amount of memory in it - it is
NOTHING to do with the fact that it is running windows and IIS. The same
problems would have happened if it had been running Linux, Apache, PhP,
coldfusion or anything else.
Because I don't charge users for PaBTrak, BrikTrak and all other stuff I
build, I have to fund my own hardware and so the stuff doesn't run on the
latest servers. I am lucky in that I can use my companys datacenter for
bandwidth free of charge, but the hardware is up to me to buy. The problems
with the website were entirely hardware related not software. Hopefully the
extra memory I have installed will help, but I am about to order a brand new
server to assist with future stuff.

I don't want to start a platform/OS war here on Lugnet, but I get sick to
death of uninformed people trying to tell me that windows/IIS doesn't
scale - it does and it does it well, providing you do it right. Believe me,
I know as part of my real job involves doing just that.
I once had a senior IBM consultant who was working for one of our vendors
tell me the same thing - Windows doesn't scale. We brought him in and some
representatives to see our company and what we are doing and they literally
left open mouthed. Needless to say that a few days later, I got a written
apology from him admitting that he was wrong. The vendor now relies less on
expensive IBM consultants and uses more Windows based systems. I'm in no way
trying to say that Windows (or any other platform) is better than any
other - they all have their strengths and weaknesses.

Richard - jumping in a telephone box to change back in to the mild mannered
person he usually is!

Hey Jake, This seems like it could lead to some very cool things in the future. I did the survey with no problems just a few minutes ago.

A few comments:

First, why doesn’t TLC just run an online PaB store? I live 8 hours away from the nearest PaB, so I can only get out there maybe once per year. If there was an online PaB, it would make things much easier.

Next, if this survey is so TLC can decide what new bulk packs to make, you should group associated items together. For example, I much prefer bulk packs with a good mix of bricks than bulk packs with 100 of the same brick. (unless the brick is the standard 2x4)

The same with roof slopes. I prefer those packs of mixed 45 degree slopes (with doubles and corners, etc) that were once available to the packs that contain 100 of the 2x2 slope.

I added all of the 75 degree slopes to my list, but if they were made available as a bulk pack, I would prefer it be a mixed pack. They should also create a double concave 75 degree slope.

Adding windows was a pain because if you wanted the window frame, the windows, shutters, etc, it used up multiple slots in the cart.

Minifig parts would be great. I suppose they were left out because printed parts were left out. Maybe the next iteration will have them?

*******************************************************************

My Cool Idea:

It would be nice if you made a bag of random minifig parts. Each pack could contain 10 heads, 10 torso assemblies, 10 leg assemblies, 10 headgears, 5 neckwear/bodywear, and 15 weapons/shields/utensils and then sell it for $10 on S@H with the bulk bag discount applying.

You could make some heads and torsos rarer than others. Like an easy to get head or torso might appear once in every 5 bags, while a hard to get head or torso might appear once in every 20 bags. As long as most of the head and torso printings were pretty general, people would find a use for most of the parts and trade or sell the rest. There could even be a few new torso, head, and shield printings made specifically for this pack.

I think people would buy these by the dozens.

This is a GREAT idea!  Lego could put mass quantities of "standard torsos"
in, and every once in a while mix in something really rare like a forest
maiden or something.  This is how collectable card companies sell their
products.  Lego could do the same.  You also don't have to be limited to
minifig packs....

Imagine a door/window/roof pack that would every once in a while contain
hard to find slopes, doors or windows!

Thank you. The collectible card game industry is where I came up with that idea,
and I get excited every time I think about it. However, I think this idea is
only good for minifigs. TLC should just make assortments of slopes and doors,
they shouldn't be hard to get.

Anyway, to expand upon my idea further:

One of these packs could be set up like this:
6 common torsos and heads
3 uncommon torsos and heads
1 rare torso and head

The entire pool of parts could be:
30 common torsos and heads
30 uncommon torsos and heads
30 rare torsos and heads

Things people want lots of like storm troopers and standard castle infantry
should be common. Unique and hard to get figs (princess leia, princess storm,
the king, darth vader, the admiral, captain red beard, dark forest torsos, etc)
should be rare. Things people want in multiples, but not in really large
quantities like firemen, police, classic space guys, and castle peasants would
work well as uncommon.

By providing so many different torsos and heads, people could make all of their
minifigs look different. Imagine having an army of 50 black falcon figures, each
of which has a different face. That would be cool.

Legs don't need varying degrees of rarity, they just need different colors, and
different colored legs should all be available equally.

Every couple years, the parts available in these packs could be rotated. Take
some stuff out, put some new stuff in, and mark the package differently.

Just wishful thinking.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that I have upgraded the memory in the
webserver that is running the Bulk Bricks survey.
HOPEFULLY this will stop the issues that some users have been having with
their carts getting blown out.

In addition I have changed the site this morning, so if an error occurs,
then the website will immediately inform me of the error and give me very
detailed information that I can use to help identify the problem.

Really sorry for the trouble that some users had - we knew this survey would
be popular, but never in my wildest dreams think we would generate the
traffic it did. FYI - yesterday traffic to the PaBTrak website was 3 times
the amount that my company's website had. My companies website is one of the
busier ones out there and runs on a 6 webserver, 4 database server farm,
made up of very powerful machines. The PaBTrak server by comparision runs on
an old underpowered single server - so in hindsight, I'm not suprised it
stuggled!
The extra memory is a short term 'bandaid', but in order to help future
developments, I have today ordered myself a new fast server with bags of
memory and processing power!

So, sorry once again for the problems some of you had. Hopefully the survey
should be much more robust now.

the amount that my company's website had. My companies website is one of the
busier ones out there and runs on a 6 webserver, 4 database server farm,
made up of very powerful machines. The PaBTrak server by comparision runs on
an old underpowered single server - so in hindsight, I'm not suprised it
stuggled!

Another example of just how active the online AFOL community really is.  I, for
one, filled out the survey within a few hours of seeing the announcement.

It was a hard survey to fill out (picking only 20 parts was the hardest part).
Once I decided to concentrate on one of my favorite themes, it was much easier.

Please note that we have included only the current color selection in this survey. Richard has been kind enough to agree to a second version of the survey that is based only on the new and old colors so that we can put a bit more quantitative data to that discussion about what parts should/could be “locked”.

Thank you!

This is great! If only a portion of the bricks we select will be produced in bulk, it will be a big help.

I picked a good range of colors (based primarily on what is used at the modelshop) including the new light grey, dark grey, and brown. I feel that if these colors are made available in bulk brick (especially the special elements!) it will make it easier for us all to switch over to the new colors. We know the decision is final, and now it is time to move on from the color discussion, and do what we do best: making great, original, one-of-a-kind LEGO creations!!!

On a side note, I couldnt pick out the full 20 bricks I wanted. every time I got to 15 or 16 picks, it would start generating a new list starting at 1. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t go back to adding bricks to the original list! After restarting 3 times, I got fed up and just submited 16 choices!

Thanks,

Bill Vollbrecht www.brickcreations.com

Maybe I missed these answers somewhere, but I can’t seem to find them.

Q. Are the results going to be made public?

Q. If so, when might that be?

Jake / Richard when I have put in the first item and I click on Browse For More it says I have 0 items in my cart. I know I have cookies enabled and I’ve added pabtrack.com and briktrak.com to my trusted sites list to enable java.

What else should I do to get it to work in XP with IE6?

It looks like there's something not quite right about your cookies.
Could you check the following in Internet Explorer;
Go to Tools>Intenet Options
Click the 'Privacy' tab, then click the 'Advanced' button.
Make sure that the setting for 'First-party Cookies' is Accept and more
importantly, make sure the the 'Always allow session cookies' box is
checked.
Click okay - restart IE and try the site again.
As soon as you add an item to your cart, the number of items figure in the
left hand panel of the website should update. If it doesn't, then it looks
like there's still something not quite right.

The other thing you can also try, just incase there is something strange
with your cookies in IE is the following;
Go to Tools>Intenet Options
Click the 'Privacy' tab
This time click the 'Edit' button in the 'Web sites' panel
type www.pabtrak.com (note there's no 'c' in pabtrak) in the address box and
click 'Allow'
repeat above, this time typing pabtrak.com in the box (no www)
Click ok, close browser and try again.

If you need more help with this, shoot me an email to rjmorton at 4imprint
dot com (replacing the 'at' and 'dot' with '@' and '.' of course!)

Hope it helps,

You could just download Firefox. http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

Besides, using IE will get you thrown in jail after some piece of spyware hijacks your browser and puts kiddie pr0n on your computer.

This is what’s happening to me now since the server upgrade as well. Instead of getting the error page previously reported by many, the offending item will be added to the cart, but all previous cart contents have disappeared.

I can get 20 items in no problem if I only choose 1-3 colors each. When I pick 8-10 colors per part I invariably get the cart blown away before it is full. Are other people generally maxing out their color selections?

Just a follow up to this - tonight I have been working with Rosco to examine
this problem in more detail and try and work through it.
The good news is that I was finally able to simulate the problem and as soon
as I did, I realised what the solution was.
So, I have fixed the site tonight and this seems to have FINALLY done the
trick.
To test, I was creating carts with 100's of items in all colors and the site
didn't flinch once. Whereas before the update, it would generate the above
error more times than not. (before you ask - no, I didn't submit the test
baskets into the survey results - that would be very unfair! Also -no, I am
not going to let anyone have access to the test page that allows them to
pick 100's of items for the survey ; ) )

Once again - sorry for the problems that some of you have had - this really,
really really should finally put paid to the carts blowing out problem.

Richard.

I snipped you a bit, sorry!

This is for everybody! Don’t use this so much to rant over the “color issue” of 2004, but rather to suggest some things you would use as a builder. I know that most space-heads won’t agree, but would it not be nice to se a grey (any) or tan horse part? How about fruit trees in Fall colors? There is a broad range of parts and colors listed, including transparent purple (remember the windscreen discussion of a few years ago?). This is not an opportunity to complain, but to expand and imagine!!

Don’t waste the brain cells folk, think about what you really can use.

PS! You can vote for bulk packs of flowers in a wide range of colors too. Another wish of mine! :o)

Thank you Jake and Richard.

Hi Jake and everyone,

Thanks Jake and Richard for this survey. I cannot wait to find out the results.

I have not seen anyone request bulk pack of the 30401px1, Baseplate, Road 16 x 32 Ramp, Straight. And it is not in the survey. I think it would be a very desireable part as I have not been able to find any on eBay or BrickLink for a long time. It was only available in one expensive set (6600) and there was only one per set. It is a very useful part for virtually any town project. I would very much like to buy quite a few of these parts. (This is my first post after lurking for four years, so please don’t make me beg! ;-) )

Thanks for listening.

The straight piece and its curved counterpart look quite useful and could make good bridges. When I saw the set I was put off both by the price and by the two inclined ramps, which are too steep for realistic town scenery and make up a large part of the price. The maximum normal road slope is about 1 in 5, with 1 in 4 or 1 in 3 on some tracks. 1 in 5 would be a 32 stud long roadplate with 16 plates under one end. The ramps have 12 bricks (36 plates under one end, making them about 1 in 2.4!

The inclined ramps are a bit too large for a multi-storey car park ramp too. I see them as another example of a piece with high play value for kids but little realistic value for AFOLs.

Perhaps a pack of 5 straight flat ramps would be good, but the price wouldn’t be much less than the set you mentioned. Still, the yield (no. useful parts / no. total parts) would be 100%.

I did not add some, as e.g. arches already are popular. See my comment for more:

2335 Flag 2 x 2
A system with stickers for different coutries and maybe companies.
Once I have used this flag for a building, using "birthday party stickers",
which fit good. The only downside is the a real flag is app 2x3 in size, while
this is app 1x1 (not counting Schwitzerland).

Windows - I'd like to see window of the transperant type, but not clear - e.g.
in toilets, windows are present (for light), but a type, which you cannot look
through. Dont know the word for this.
Could be usefull in trains.

Arches - large selection in any colour for model building,
- same goes for slopes, and other bricks for building models.
I think of arches, slopes, rounded bricks, tiles, shutters and doors with
holders (e.g. 1x1 brick 2 high) in a selection of colours, such as sand red,
green etc, doors in related black and brown etc. Take a look at a building, and
see what you need (I am thinking og older buildings, such as manor houses,
churches, wooden houses

Hi Sonnich,

The term you are looking for is 'translucent' which means that it allows light
through, but the light gets diffused (ie. scrambled) so that one can't see
through it. Old Lego windows, incidentally, tend to become translucent as they
collect tiny scratches from jostling with other pieces and being played with.
One can think of a simple continuum with 'transparent' at one end and 'opaque'
at the other. In between there are varying degrees of translucence.

I second that request.

Peace and clarity,
