-I just added a new castle section onto my website. It's at (URL) you would like to look. I have a little fort for the Forestmen, and a couple of neat-looking (at least I think so) wizards. -Marc Nelson Jr. (25 years ago, 11-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Inn/tavern teaser

I'll try to answer a few posts in one. (Don't feel like replying to each one :-) As soon as I read all the posts I went to rebuilding... now some more writing before I hit the books: (...) Hmmm... what did it start as? Just a house? (...) That's a (...) (25 years ago, 11-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: New Castle section

(...) Hi Marc, I like the treehouse a lot! Your use of the wheels is extremely creative, I *knew* they could be of some good use, just hadn't figure out just what use might that be ;-) I like the 'post' built halfway up. Your wizards and Moo-men are (...) (25 years ago, 11-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: New Castle section

Pretty nifty. I like the hour-glass shape of the castle. It has a very "tree-house" effect to it. Like Shiri, I've been trying to find a use for those brown round pieces (wheels) as well. I like the idea of using those as a large tree branch. (...) (25 years ago, 11-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Inn/tavern teaser

(...) Hi Shiri, Overall, I like the design of your inn. I do have a few suggestions and questions, though. :) When building a structure made of "stone", I like to frame window- and door-frames in a highlight color. Something similar to this: (...) (25 years ago, 11-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Inn/tavern teaser

(...) Thanks! (...) Hmm... I'm not sure if I have 1x4 arches in the right colors. If I highlight, and add a color-line, I'd love to make a green one... but I don't have any green plates OR arches, and doubt I can get any. I'll prolly go with red, (...) (25 years ago, 11-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Inn/tavern teaser

(...) What about black? That generally looks best with gray (IMO). It would serve to define the windows, and make them more obvious. (...) In a countryside/village Inn, the backdoor might lead to a well or a stream. They'd probably need their own (...) (25 years ago, 11-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Inn/tavern teaser

(...) Actually it started out as a barracks, couldn't you tell? :-). Seriously it did start out as a barracks. It was mostly just an experiment in finding a use for the new 3x4x5 castle walls. Although I did use 4 of the new castle walls it is (...) (25 years ago, 11-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Inn/tavern teaser

(...) Sorry but that is just a bit to formal for this newsgroup don't you think? :-). Eric is fine, maybe Eric K. to differentiate from the other Eric's but Mr. Kingsley just makes me feel a little to old and I want this to be a relaxed atmosphere (...) (25 years ago, 11-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Inn/tavern teaser

(...) I have seen several references to making creations more modular. Are you talking about using technic friction pins? I would love to be able to open up MOC's and show the insides of the structures. If you are using the friction pins, what (...) (25 years ago, 11-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: New Castle section

(...) Oh yah I love the 4x4 brown rounds they make great trees although they do look like a very precise woodpecker has been at them. By the way I love the tree house too. I had a similar idea but without any of the Brown inverted half arches in my (...) (25 years ago, 11-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Inn/tavern teaser

(...) Bruce I use technic pins (not friction pins)1 in most of my modular creations like my Inn, Church, and City Wall. I don't have pics of the pins on the in but here are pics of the Church and City wall. (URL) most buildings I use 1x1 technic (...) (25 years ago, 11-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Arches

I have a lot of two stud wide arches which I want to be rid of. I don't believe they were ever used in castle sets, or any "serious" sets only in free style boxes and the like. Am I right ???? Michael Pratt (25 years ago, 11-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Inn/tavern teaser

(...) I've found that using the 1x2 or 2x2 bricks with the built-in pins works even better because you don't have to worry about the pin itself coming loose. The other side would of course be a 1x2 technic beam. (...) Actually, those are something (...) (25 years ago, 11-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: New Castle section

(...) One thing one could do to break up the monotony of the holes a bit would be to put grey Technic pegs into some of the holes. They would then look like the stubs of dead branches. Frank (25 years ago, 11-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Arches

(...) If you mean 1x2 arches with plate (looks like <part:6005 this> but smaller) then no way! They are used in many town and paradisa sets, and can be used in very cool ways in castle, and prolly space too. However, if you still want to get rid of (...)   Re: Arches

These things make great train roofs--I have a rather large collection of gray ones waiting for me to make train cars to go under them :) They come in Model TEam sets (3 black and 2 red in 5542, I think 2 white, 2 gray, and 6 red in 5561), (...)
