Back when I was about 12-14, I was highly into the castle stuff.

I still like castle (and read this group), but I primarily like town stuff
these days.  In my current LEGO city, only about 15% is castle (actually
just one big castle) and 85% town (well, city).

Strangely enough, when I was about 8-12, I was more into technic.

So, I went technic->castle->town.

Has anyone else had subject area shifts like this?

Yeah.

Castle & Town started me off. In 1988 (I think?) When the first four pirate
sets came out, I went nuts - got them all - doubles, triples, and quadruples
of all but "Black Sea Baracuda" (The number eludes me.) I quit collecting
Town at that point, IIRC.

Since then, Pirate and Castle have been the themes I've collected the most,
but Space has also intrigued me somewhat (M-Tron, Blacktron II, Space Police
II, Ice Planet, etc.).

Now that my Lego out-weighs me about 10-1, I switch from Theme to theme
about every two months ;-). For example: Now I'm working on a Castle,
whereas in early February, I had my Ice Planet Iceberg going.
