  Installation Problems with MLCad Version 1.6 and 1.7
 
Dear MLCad fans! I finaly found the problem for the MLCad crashes: Since version 1.6, MLCad uses color-tables. There is a problem now when the program is started for the very first time, since it tries to activate a dialog to ask the user for the (...) Hey, all! I just discovered a new thing about Leocad. You can save and load Ldraw .dat files! Very, very useful to me, as I used to use Leocad and switched to MLCad after it came out, and I didn't know I could save my Leocad models. Anyway, you all (...) I'm a newbee in creating parts with MLCAD (a fantastic program), i find it very easy to use. It's easy to place bricks, plates, beams and other regular parts using the grid coarse, but when placing axles and other parts in beam holes, i had to swith (...) I'd be happy with no refresh or a manual refresh on submodel images... it's fast enough to go out and come back in, that doing that would be good enough. Currently MlCad scannes a .dat file on its first access and cashes its data, these data are used for the preview which is not a problem since the data of a dat file do not change (at least not for MLCad during run-time). But the sub-models you (...) (25 years ago, 23-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

When converting bitmaps to DAT files in MLCAD, is there a direct correlation between the pixel width and height of the image and the output file's dimensions measured in stud-widths? I thought the previews were "canned". I wouldn't mind a similar ability to can sub-model images. In other words, put the burden of updating on the user. Not having any way to get a preview image is pretty frustrating, especially if you do a lot of (...) (25 years ago, 20-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

Michael, I can understand the need to use hex to define custom (non-TLC produced) colors, and I'm sure that you'll find a way to fix this. Ok I understand, you still want backwards compatible files ... No problem ... I suggest a new file format extension for future MLCad versions: ".mlcad" ... default extension for any sort of MLCad files with export functions for ".mpd" and ".dat" (...) MLCad also has the possibility of hiding parts during editing ... From a view or in the list right click and select "Hide". I'm hardly working on previewing the sub-models. The problem with it is that if you edit a sub-model which is used in another sub-model (e.g. you have two sub-models A and B. A includes B and you are editing B) you are modifying the view of the (...) (25 years ago, 19-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

Hi Jack, I used LDraw to make the model, so I'm not sure what the preview X's are in MLCad. I can help you with your other question though. There are a bunch of programs you can use to collect multi-part models into one file. The one I used is MP (...) (25 years ago, 16-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

I apologize for lack of terminology. Here is the question: I downloaded the AT-ST model posted a couple days ago, and want to build it. Thanks for the new MLCad. I like the new move-mode better than the sliders. There is still a fault in save picture. On almost all off the pics off the model I just tried, there is missing surfaces in some off the bricks. I can E-mail you one off the (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

(...) I don't think you're missing anything obvious. The LDAO editors look at two sections in ldraw.ini for which views to include in that dropdown, [Views] and [View Moves]. (...) thats one way.. notepad yes. mostly thats 50% of what I use (or ldraw editor from LDAO) other ways to do parts, is "draw" sections in LDD, put together in LEDIT, inline, and do the rest with editor (quad's,tri's and such) then once part is (...) first pieves.... it takes about 7 - 8 seconds to render the parts .. (wanted to change the color on a piece, when i could of done it in ldraw editer, butused MLCAD for the color thing) thats all pieves. now, what is kool other than that, MLCADis a (...) Has anyone tried to make new parts with MLCAD? I would like to learn how to do them and then contribute to the LDraw library. I am assuming right now that it can only be done with Notepad and saved then viewed with MLCAD, but I don't know. I am (...) (25 years ago, 27-Nov-99, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)
