I'm a newbee in creating parts with MLCAD (a fantastic program), i
find it very easy to use. It's easy to place bricks, plates, beams and
other regular parts using the grid coarse, but when placing axles and
other parts in beam holes, i had to swith to grid off zoom 300%, and
carefully look where the parts goes. Is there any trick to help
placing this kind of parts ?

May I suggest an extension to the part .dat format (perhaps this
already exists, and i don't know how to use it) :
In the part file there could been placed one or more transformation
offset (origin + rotation) that brings the part to a given default
position. So it is easy to drag the part to the correct place using
coarse grid.
An example for using several default offset : a bush used on an axle
and used vertically between studs.
A another good example is the Technic liftarm 1x9 bent which is very
difficult to position so the short part is horizontal.

May I suggest another fonctionnality : zoom on selected parts. This
can helps a lot to move within the model when zoom is maximum, and
also helps to localize a part.

(...) Try using the fine grid. A good thing to remember is that you usually have to move the piece an even number (2, 4, 6, 8, etc) of times. To place axles, I move the axle so that it interects the hole as close as possible to where it should. Then (...) (25 years ago, 29-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)
