Tony, My rubberbelt generator (or the derived one included in MLCad) can be used to generate toruses using 4-4cyli primitive. In my problem description I didn't mention that I had actually included the part in an mlcad model, so effectively it was created as a Type 1 line. The solution to the problem though seems to have been removing the part from the ldraw models (...) (22 years ago, 2-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

I appear to have answered my own question, though I don't understand the answer :) It seems that if the part is located in the LDRAW\MODELS directory, the extended face problem exists. I just had occasion to draw something using 2878.dat which are the 9V era large train "wheels" (actually an assembly of the 2879 wheel/axle and the holders, misnamed as wheels) This entire part seems to be done with "Main color" at least in the (...)
