I think it is meant that the door and the glass are two seperate
pieces of plastic and seperately molded and thus worth two seperate
partnumbers. I think TLG also used two different numbers to identify
them.

That's looking from the manufacturer's point of wiev. I prefer to look at
LDrawing from the builder's. When there are TLG part numbers available, of
course they should be used. But I see no point wasting 3-digit numbers in vain.

But let the partnumber-gurus decide what we (the LDraw related community)
should use ;-)

Maybe I should, but sometimes I just can't. ;-)

On the other hand, it is more likely to have a glassless windowframe part
and use that as a subpart for the combination with glass. Saves diskspace
and prevents redundancy (maintaining two almost identical files).

Doesn't save diskspace, but valuable download time. And you're right about
maintainance. Point is taken, I will make 29c.dat a subpart to (currently
suggested) 29a.dat and so on.

There is the Door  1 x  3 x  4 and appearantly there is also a variant that
should be called Door  1 x  3 x  4 without Glass - even if I've never seen one.

Or the glassless version and the glass parts should have a title
starting with a tilde (~) so they don't appear as individual parts.

Better, but not good. ;o)
Alt 1. If there is a glassless version, it's an individual part. Let's
retitle it to "7930.dat - Door  1 x  3 x  4 without Glass" and use it as
subpart to "7930a.dat - Door  1 x  3 x  4". Ok, I can stand "7930a.dat -
Door  1 x  3 x  4 with Glass".
Alt 2. If not, let's just correct the erratic current official 7930.dat. No
need for yet two more unnecessary files for the sake of Uniformity.

Niels: (...) Tore: (...) I don't know about a real glassless version of the 7930 door, but I noticed when rendering the 368 taxi house that the 7930 door did not have glass. The current official LDraw part 7930.dat has no glass! Since I have only (...) (22 years ago, 9-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)
