Perhaps because official sponsership or endorsement would cause more headaches
than the occasional no-strings-attached gift.
LEGO as a company do it all the time - they might send out a K8 to a LEGOfest,
organise local events; they have a history of supporting the LEGO community.
Albeit usually in a low-publicity fashion that most of us never hear about.
Support does not imply Endorsement or Sponsership.
Endorsement or Sponsership does imply Support.
Can we agree that LEGO may occasionally Support LUGNET (as mentioned on the
front page), and that this doesn't constitute Endorsement or Sponsership (also
mentioned clearly on the front page). Then we can salute the front page, and
forget this rather dreary thread?
