Langauge aside, .dear-lego isn't the place to stir up a big off-topic[1]
commotion like that.  I'll bet you could stir up the same commotion in
.off-topic.debate or .market.theory and not get complained about by half
a dozen or more people.

For the record: that wasn't my intention.  And actually, I resent the
implication that it WAS my intention -- but I will give you the benefit of the
doubt, and assume instead that your words get sloppy sometimes too.

No one can speak to what another person's intention actually is, until and
unless some sort of perfect mind reading device is built (and I hope that never
happens, but I digress).

All I can judge by is the outcome of actions. No one's perfect in this one, but
I think you're being a bit "who me"-ish. Your posts stirred up commotion. Not
just you, of course.

But I have already tried to explain several times now how and why I took steps
to avoid this storm of nonsense.  You either believe in my sincerity or you
don't.

I don't.

Rather, I'd say you relished in sharing your class warfarish views in a way
that stirred things up. One rather mild example:
http://www.lugnet.com/dear-lego/?n=2001

and from earlier in the thread:
http://www.lugnet.com/dear-lego/?n=1906

Those are just two examples that I found in a hurry, they're not even the best
ones.

I don't think you get to say "I'm being incendiary, but it's all in fun" after
the fact, and I don't think you can insult people and in the same breath claim
that you're trying to end a discussion and bring calm.

Just my opinion, and note carefully that I'm NOT saying that I didn't stir
things up too, but I don't see it as being the same degree at all. Not at all.

The former example is certainly that of one who is willing to defend a position, not necesaarily one who creates the dispute to begin with. (...) (25 years ago, 29-Mar-00, to lugnet.admin.general)
