I think the six sets 8203, 8204, 8208, 8209, 8217 and 8218 were
released simultaneously in a UK/Australia/New Zealand only launch.
Apparently, they also made their way into som parts of Asia. If I
remember correctly, they were refered to as "micro technic" by LEGO.
It was featured in one editition of the UK LEGO magazine, but I fail
to find the scans on the 'net nowadays.

Yep, those are the six micro technic sets.

I like the 8208 best. It has a very nice alternate model as well.

| (...) I agree. But then, TRU in the UK is seldom cheap (the same shop still has ZNAP at full RRP). They gave the set away free with a larger set last year; I think the ones they are selling now is what was left over from that deal. Scott A (23 years ago, 20-Feb-02, to lugnet.technic)
