In a way, the very reason that I don't think Lego would pick me is the reason I
think they might.  I have been involved in Lego Mindstorms for less than a
month.  My first set (RIS 2.0) was bought the week before Christmas.  I have
made a conscious effort to build only with the parts in the RIS 2.0 set
(although my son is willing to share parts from his kits) and to only program
using the RCX 2.0 software (although it seems a C-like language would be easier
in many cases).  I may be just experienced enough with RIS to be excited about
the possibilities but not so experienced that I'll have old habits that need
breaking.

What I would do is use the input from my 5-year-old son, my 10-year-old nephew,
and my older brothers (who are very interested in robotics, but not an engineer
like me), and myself to figure out what people REALLY want to see done.  I would
hope that my 20 years of experience in engineering would help me evaluate
possible hardware expansion ideas, but I'd really be more interested in keeping
it simple.

And, if you haven't been able to tell already from this message and from my
other posts over the past two weeks, I love to write.  I'd seek places where I
could write about my experiences and the experiences of other NXT developers.

Whatever happens happens.  Either I'll get picked and feel "involved" or I'll
just wait and see what the developers come up with.  Either way, I'm sure it'll
be a fun experience.

Sorry, that's as short as I can make anything. :-)

Mike

(...) Don't we all? (...) It didn't seem (to me) like the application really got into details. So, maybe this would be a place to speak up. If you were going to be included, what would you do to help the development of the NXT? (remember, if you had (...) (18 years ago, 16-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)
