Snipped bunches. Some I agree with (the venality of leaders everywhere, but
certainly in the US) and some I dont (its not just about the oil!)...
focusing on one bit.

I saw Johns silly time machine retort. I agree that its important to start
with this. Not everyone wanted to go into Iraq, and those that were against
were right, and we ought to be respecting this and listening harder. And we
ought to be drawing this lesson for the next time this comes up (in respect
of say, North Korea, or Syria, or Iran, or Libya, or Saudi Arabia)

What Im not seeing the current participants in this debate providing is
anything beyond we told you so... Im against the war too, I was from the
start, but I think its important and valid to ask ok, so what would you do
NOW? That IS a legitimate question and it IS legitimate to ask it and expect
some answer to evaluate.
No ones answering. Which makes this debate not all that interesting really,
because its a hard and important question. Its easy to berate past actions but
tougher to actually propose a plan.
No ones proposing. What we see instead is questions answered with more
questions and positions that cant be pinned down. Yawn. Answer the hard
questions and Ill be more impressed.
