Much as I am glad that Busy Bee are able to come up with some hard to find
sets now and again, I find it hard to reason why I should pay them 20% extra
for a current set compared to what I can get it for from ToyCity, British or
not.

Because if you don't support them, you may not be able pick up those
hard to find items, because they've gone out of business. (not
specifically aimed at BB here)

The whole point of places like BB is the personal relationship that you
have. The big chains don't know you from Adam, don't care what you want,
and will only sell you what gives them the least hassle and most profit.

Yes, you are right to a certain extend. But:
1. I e-mailed www.thetoyshop.com a few months back for sets I wanted, Andrew
checked every store they have for me.

2. I e-mailed www.thetoyshop.com my order last month, and added I was
disappointed I could not get a Belville set the listed as on "backorder" - he
ordered one for me - and shipped it for free.

3. I placed an order with www.toyworldstore.com last month. At the same time I
asked if thay had any old Lego posters etc they no longer needed - they mailed
back and said no, but they have ordered one for me from TLG (It has still not
arrived).

Real people work in these places too!

Fine. I pay more, but I *know* the people I buy from. And every visit to
Busy Bee is a pleasure.

So there.

(...) Good point. I should say that I have had several email dialogues with thetoyshop (entertainer) too. Similar type of converstations as you by the sounds of it. e.g. They checked their physical stores to see if they had something in stock.# (...) (25 years ago, 8-May-00, to lugnet.loc.uk)
