I do not think BB prices are all that high, but I do think it is this sort
of ethic which exacerbates the thing some people call "rip-off Britain".

Not sure I agree. I think the pricing that retailers have to use because of
various government policies is the problem, not the fact that small shops
charge more than the big chains. I've bought from both The Entertainer and Busy
Bee and I much prefer BB, you can be sure, although I got some great deals from
The Entertainer. BB gives awesome deals and I consider them friends now, not
just trading partners.

In general small shops charge more than big chains everywhere in the world,
that's the nature of the beast. I buy a LOT from big chains, mostly over the
net, but we have a small local shop here in Grand Rapids run by a former
teacher in our school system that we give custom to.

Everyone should consider allocating a small part of their budget to giving
custom to a local shop even if it means spending a bit more. That's my opinion
anyway. Small shops bring something special to the toy buying experience, I
love taking my kids to one, you just don't get the same experience at TRU. And
it's not right to take up time and space and not give any business to the shop.

(BTW, the same debate rages in the MR hobby as well, where it's even more
pronounced, you cannot survive without small shops)

Sigh. I passed on the information to readers in this group in good faith.
The next time I see a good deal, I shall keep it to myself.

I think you're sussed either way on that, as if you keep it to yourself, but it
gets out later, you're accused of being a glutton and not sharing, but if you
post it, there's a mad rush and Paul (or whoever, I stopped in to Velux Canada
HQ when I was in Toronto last week... got rather an icy reception, I was hoping
to wheedle them into selling me one of the Velux houses, but they said someone
had been hounding them to buy 100 of them and would I just go away please) gets
swamped.

Do what you think best and don't give thought to what others think unless you
want to.
