April is the official rollout, and that's generally the best you'll hear until
your eyes tell you otherwise (I bought the TECHNIC R2-D2 two weeks before the
official release month, and when I called Consumer Affairs to get an incorrectly
packed part replaced, I was told that they weren't out yet. It didn't take long
to get it straightened out, but if it had been a new piece, I still would have
had to wait for them to get the official part lists and replacement part stock).

Well, they're not BIONICLE, but they look like they should be pretty popular.
Travel worthiness is another big factor, as it can be packed in a suitcase, a
backpack, or a mother's purse without fear of losing parts. My hope is that
we'll see a purple one released next year, and that grey versions (perhaps
light-grey for Space and dark-grey for Castle?) will be delayed until the color
issue can be corrected.
