Really? I have just finished reading every post in this group and could not
find a place where the organizers have said this. If it was said somewhere
else, then it probably should be repeated here for those of us who do not read
every post on Lugnet.
I did see it said by someone who is NOT Bryan or Adam. As it was pointed out
that it is Bryan and Adam that determine what happens to any "profit", I am not
sure if this person is speaking for them or not.
Also, the fact that they have the hotel reserved for future years, and plan to
have a cool event that people want to attend, is a completely separate issue
from where the money goes. It is entirely possible to have a great event AND
make a ton of money.
In my search, what I DID find, was this comment from Bryan:
"If we actually make money, the people that help make Brickworld happen will
reap the benefits according to their level of effort & risk they take. This
means everyone involved from Adam to all the AFOLs may get some return for their
efforts. "
If this has not changed since the the time it was posted in the early planning,
then this is great news and does actually answer the question originally raised
with this thread. I have a feeling that it will be a nightmare to figure out a
fair distribution, but that is a problem for them to figure out, and will be a
good problem because it will indicate that the even was successful and that
money was made.
And just to be clear, my post was not meant in a negative way, or to suggest
that anything nefarious was going on. I was just trying to explain why I
thought it was important that these issues be cleared up ahead of time so that
there are no hard feelings amongst attendees.
Now, if they would just let us know if there will be any special pricing at the
LEGO Brand stores for attendees, it would make my decision on attending MUCH
easier! :-D

| Bryan has contacted me privately and assured me that both his statement below, and David Gregory's previous statement about nobody making money, are truthful and accurate. As these are unambiguous statements, this clears up the whole issue for me in (...) (18 years ago, 17-Mar-07, to lugnet.events.brickworld)
