Your letter has too much in it that is simply not credible or is at least very debatable.

This letter is from AFOLs. Let’s make it about AFOLs. The following points are all true (to a varying degree) for a large number of AFOLs.

1. Grey, dark grey and brown are significant colours for AFOLs. Almost all AFOLs expected colours like grey (and to a lesser extent dark grey and brown) to stay the same. (list why we believed it)

2. Based on this belief, many AFOLs spent a significant amount of money collecting these colours. Many AFOLs now feel their collection is now devalued. (list why we feel our collections are less valuable).

3. Sorting is now a nightmare, which makes building less fun.

4. It leads some AFOLs to believe that TLC might make some other worse changes, so they are less confident about “investing” in the system going forward.

5. Many AFOLs are disappointed that you didn’t understand AFOLs well enough to predict how upset we’d be.

6. Because of the above reasons, many AFOLs have reduced or even stopped buying new Lego. Some are considering dropping Lego as a hobby.

Note that these are not anybody’s opinions. These are all facts which are unarguable.

(...) Wow! That may not be the most eloquent, but it sure gets the point across. I'm tempted to change all instances of "AFOL" above to "me/I" and print that out and send it in! -Bryan (20 years ago, 2-Dec-04, to lugnet.color, lugnet.lego, lugnet.general, FTX)

(...) Your comments above are excellent. Short, concise, and sums it up. I like 4 through 6 the best. #3 is probably the least convincing statement of the 6 IMO, but is still true. If we wrap it around why "Lego should care" about AFOL (some (...) (20 years ago, 2-Dec-04, to lugnet.color, lugnet.lego, lugnet.general, FTX)

I've drafted a letter, and had my wife review for grammar, context and presentation. By way of credentials, my wife has worked as both a full time external communications, and internal executive communications writer in a Fortune 100 company for (...)
