Here is an update on formalizing synthesis. For now, I'v decided to make the synhtesizer a stand alone program that runs at a command prompt like L3P. The program is called lsynth. The pattern I am working on has a lot of fine detail that is pretty close to the edge. The large diagonal edge on each side is giving me some trouble... In this build, dragging is in full color (not blue.) A new feature is another color palette window: choose the color for a part by dragging it through a color swatch. Maybe I'm not an impartial viewer but that looks really nice. I like how you've given the part borders a nice thick line. Just finished some renders of Bryce Rollins' SH-60. Coloration may be off from his z-renders but it's pretty close. All of Bryce's models are great, but I thought he really captured the feeling and flair of the SH-60 Seahawk. Anyway have a look: (...) I have not delved much into the inner workings of parts, but I'm using Thomas Burger's x814 6x6 "bubble" windscreen in a model. I took his file and included it in my MPD as another part. Here's a little followup about my experimentation (along with a new test image-> (URL) ). My festivities have hit a big snag when I tried using transparent pieces. Thanks for this pointer. I contacted Koen and he has gaciously donated his code to the synthesis effort. The results on his website are stunning. I'm not quite sure where to post this. I'm working on a program that opens an image file and generates an LDraw torso based on it. I'm going to mostly stay out of this discussion for now. I will throw out a few suggestions/requirements, though: 1. The final definition should be renderable by ldraw.exe. 2. It might be a good idea to put each 'synthesizable part' in its own file (...) (22 years ago, 17-Sep-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

(...) That's a good idea, but since LDView caches files after reading them, it will only ever check for any particular file once. So I don't think this will help. It might help, though, since I would essentiall scan the entire LDraw parts directory (...) (22 years ago, 16-Sep-02, to lugnet.cad)
