I perceive Question 2 as a general LDRAW format issue not limited to MLCAD.
I'm adding support for this and related issues to LPub (my automatic
building instruction generator). The format looks like this:
0 /* a mechanism for naming one or more parts for future reference */
0 GROUP BEGIN <name>
0 GROUP END
0 /* a localized CLEAR command */
0 GROUP CLEAR <name>
0 /* a localized move command that supports absolute or relative movement */
0 GROUP MOVE <x> <y> <z> (ABS | REL)
0 /* a localized rotate command that supports absolute or relative rotation */
0 /* center of rotation */
0 amount of rotation */
0 GROUP ROTATE <x> <y> <z> <x_angle> <y_angle> <z_angle> (ABS | REL)
This could be used for simple moving of parts or group of parts, or combined
with STEP commands, could generate an animated sequence.
You will be able to add an electric cable that sticks out of the design with
one end "connected" to the design and the second just hanging out. Later
you can replace that version of the cable with one that has both ends placed.
Since this is done with type 0 records it should be ldraw.exe compatible.
The GROUP commands will have no effect.

| Hello, I'm having a little trouble too do some editing in MLCAD (v2.12). Question 1: How too make a bend on a hose, part 79.dat (Technic Ribbed Hose) or 78.dat (complete 120LDU long)? With 79.dat I can put piece by piece and just rotate each new (...) (22 years ago, 14-Sep-02, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)
