Is the line the same for Admins, or are they held to a higher standard?

Kevin, you raise a valid point here. This is not to take a personal snipe
at admins, but it seems this whole situation that the Admins get to
do what they want because they are selfless volunteers for the greater
good.

Hi Ben,
I have been in email contact with the Admin team, and *know* that this and
many other points raised in this thread have been noted, as indicated by a
few of Todds post. Noted is a serious understatement, but I cannot come up
with better wording. Larry has personally acknowledged and committed to me
that this is a new standard.
The Admin team has publicly stated they made mistakes, and wisely not
listed what they were or were not, because that would just spawn more debate.
|
Clearly the Admins have apologised for their (unspecified) errors. However, how
can members (Im not one) accept an apology when those involved are not willing
to say what they are apologising for?
In the past transgressors have been asked to make public apologies and recognise
their errors. Why should Admins be any different?

They have worked with Chris and Terry to rapidly get them reenstated, and are
working hard at rewriting polciy and thier application as we speak.
Im done being adversarial on this point, as I would encourage everyone
else to do. Mid afternoon on Friday the dialog went dead. I was not sure if
this was a good sign or bad. It in fact, was a very good sign.
|
I personally believe in many instances, they deserve the members praise,
gratitude, and respect, however, I think that the admins should be just
as responsible for their own behavior as any other member.
|
The Admin team beleives this too, Im sure.
This is one of the toughest situation they have faced in their short tenure.
It got complicated, because it got so personal. It is very tough to maintain
grace under fire, when the methods attack the person, and not their behavior.
In many ways, this particular case was good for lugnet, in that the rules,
procuedures and their applications are being reviewed and updated. I trust
that the Admin team is working very hard at looking at all sides, and trying
to look at the whole picture, as indicated by Todds posts.
