Heh. I’ve been sitting at my PC hitting re-load every three or four minutes just to see how people are going to respond to me. Anyway, thanks for the ‘thanks’

I go play with my LEGO collection for an evening, leaving y’all alone and this is what you come up with???

Wow.

Here’s the thing--now, that the dust is settling, and we all have hindsight, yes Chris was disrespectful to an admin. Fine.

Yes Larry, even understandably frazzled, was disrespectful (maybe to me but I barely noticed... that’s who I am--argue the point, not argue the person, but I digress...)

I won’t mention Terry, for I might take it personal.

But Larry, Chris, Terry, suspended for being ‘disrespectful in tone.’ We’re now beyond specific words--Words, you, as admins, don’t want to list (and I agree, btw, but that doesn’t negate my passion for a ‘word filter’...), --now we’re into feelings and emotions--both Chris and Larry were speaking from passion--no bad words were used, but there was readily apparent ‘negative intent’.

We now are ‘censoring intent’. That’s even scarier than using profane words. This sounds almost exactly like what the ‘mass media’ in the U S of A is facing these days with regards to Dubya--“don’t write any message that we don’t want to hear or you will be punished”.

I’d say that’s, well, pretty big.

And if we’re giving time-outs due to intent, then my goodness, you better start with a pretty big ‘time-out’ stick--in the last few months, with the hoopla over Sophies mechs a while back, and almost anything posted in rtlT, and, well, basically color, Bionicle, and, who’s kidding who--gon’t need to go far outside .general for a few weeks before somehting shows up--better weild that ‘time-out’ stick and start bonking people over the head with it!

And you might as well start with me, for, besides Willy’s little ‘bye bye’ post, I’m the one here, saying what I’m saying. I let the passion run wild a few times, I didn’t listen tothe ‘better angel(s) of my nature...

And here we are as a result of that passion. Two friends timed out. One’ll come back in 24 hours ‘cause he’s all for the rules and such, but the other... well, I don’t think we’ll be seeing the likes of Chris for quite some time, and that’s just sad.

‘Tis a very sad day for this website. Maybe we’ll get over it, and maybe everyone’ll realize what others have stated so quaintly and clearly--we’re here because of our appreciation of the brick. We’ve lost sight of that a few times--whether it’s when Bionicle hit the market and people shunned that as impure, or when there was this (very minor) colour change and people quit, but those were external forces, originating form TLC (or elsewhere). This issue is strictly within LUGNET--no external forces attributed to it. We can only blame ourselves, and suffer the consequences.

Or we can be adults, realize that things get said in the heat o’ passion, and get over it. It’s one thing to edit for profanity, it’s a different animal all together if we start editing for intent--where’s the line on that one?

(...) YAY Dave!!!!!!! Pushed to protest..... I tried earlier to get suspended, I came really really close, but apparently it's not that easy to do. I sent this email to Todd, from which he sent it out to the rest of the admins with my permission. (...) (20 years ago, 4-Mar-05, to lugnet.admin.general, FTX) !!
