I object. Chris withdrew is contest out of respect for lugnet.

Not entirely true. Chris withdrew his contest out of respect for Todd - which shows that Chris
does not respect Todds choices in who Todd has elevated to Admin
status.
|
Is it required?
|
It is required that all other members be respected. Those who have
volunteered to give their time and efforts to the better good, especially.
|
You require is completely unreasonable. Good luck enforcing it.
What is required is that people be treated with respect, which is not the
same as having respect for them.
|
Perhaps I should word my responce differently. To me, treating someone with
respect is essentially the same as respecting them. Regardless, treat everyone
with respect.
|
|
Please refer to this post
about Lugnet Policies.
|
I know there the policies are and would request that you do not bother to
show them to me again.
If Larry was one of the parties involved, then I still object. He should
recuse (sp) himself from managing this issue in any way, because he is too
personally involved in it.
|
Well, you asked whether it was a vote. I thought maybe you thought that we
should have voted. As policy stands - we should not have voted.
|
|
The Admin team is not designed to be a democratic entity, rather its a
reality-check mechanism whereby no single person holds absolute
decision-making powers.
|
Nope, but all it takes is two to hold all the power. Not much difference.
|
Not entirely true. It takes two to make a snap decision, but the rest of the
Admins can review and advise about how best to act. This is precisely what is
going to happen in regards to Chris and Terry. I am learning the full story on
this, and rather than wait for all of it to unfold, I felt action was needed
now. A few other admins agreed with me.
|

|
|
Chris was not suspended for his actions in a particular issue - but for
a gross and unacceptable insult to a fellow Lugnet member.
|
And yet, Admins can insult and berate sarcastically and have no warnings or
admonishment of any kind?
|
I should refer you to this
post. Larry has been suspended for his inappropriate actions.
Insults and sarcasm happen all the time. It is when these actions reach
such a flagrant level that actions are demanded.
|
So where is the line? That is the question were trying to get answered. It
is inconsistantly applied and sometimes it looks like it is abused as a power
play. IMHO Larry has been flagrant even if you ignore the canceled post.
Just look at his follow up post.
|
How exactly do we define when someone is being excessively aggressive and when
they arent? We have debates here all the time, and often they get heated.
Sarcasm is often used. It is difficult to seperate mean spirited attacks from
rhetorical devices. These are subjective issues and inconsistency is going to
creep up.
To a large degree, this entire incident is helping to establish where that line
is.

Your objections have been noted. Thank you for your input on this evolving
