In lugnet.announce, Todd Lehman & Suzanne Rich writes:
Brad Justus of LEGO Direct approached us last week with a bold new idea:
He would like to allow the community to design its own collection of LEGO
branded items, to be sold online by The LEGO Company through a third party
such as CafePress.com, with the proceeds being donated to to LUGNET.

Thus, subject to approval by TLC, shirt designs could use certain LEGO
trademarks -- for example, the prominent display of a mini-figure or,
perhaps, a Wolfpack or Blacktron logo.  As the idea stands right now,
it's pretty open-ended.

If this sounds good to you (it does to us!), there will obviously be many
logistical details to work out, but it's not too early to start thinking
about designs.

Details to work out include:  how submissions would be presented to TLC
for approval, how much involvement or feedback there would be from TLC
designers, where and how the items would be promoted, price points, etc.
This post is mainly to make the announcement and gauge interest.

p.s.  Brad also said that if things went well with T-shirts, other
special items such as coffee mugs and/or mousepads may be a possibility.

Who would like to see a *Train* t-shirt?  One suitable for wearing as a
uniform for those doing Train shows and displays such as GATS.  Would some
thing like this be a possibility if enough are interested?  Seems like it
would provide income for Lugnet, publicity for Lego and provide a desired
product.  There certainly are plenty of great Train graphics done by people
here to choose from.  Which train would be most suitable? or a compilation
of  Lego Trains through time? or maybe just an engine? or just a minifigure?

Could a t-shirt have both the Lego design, whatever it might end up being,
and then somewhere also have a small Lugnet logo also? This would probably
represent some sort of confict?

(...) I agree that it would be good to have shirts that can be worn to shows..I really like the idea of having a compilation of LEGO trains through time..pick out a bunch of the trains and put them on the back. michael (23 years ago, 22-Nov-00, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Maybe down the line (pun intended!) also Lego branded engineers overalls & caps? You know, the ones with blue & white stripes... ROSCO (...) (23 years ago, 24-Nov-00, to lugnet.lego.direct)

(...) A shirt duplicating one of the train torsos would be ever so cool! Frank (23 years ago, 1-Dec-00, to lugnet.lego.direct)
