OK, I guess I'll just have to live with "dwarf" space trains. I've been playing with some ideas in MLCAD and it does work out with the current specs if you use articulated truck cars like this one that I designed to ride as low as possible, but be (...) Pictures are now available from the NGLTC event at the Flowery Branch Georgia fall festival. This was our first opportunity to use the LEGO event kit and it was a big hit, the kids really enjoyed it. A couple corrections. 1. Just noticed I have a 2 x 4 plate on top of a 1 x 4 brick. You should probably replace these two pieces with a 2 x 4 brick or similar. Seeing the pitiful designs I've made for motorized 9v train points, my brother Chris came up with one. Put a housing over it, and people will swear it's a relay.   LDCC decoder - WARNING!
 
The Uhlenbrock DCC decoders do not work with LDCC!!! I bought an Uhlenbrock 73500 decoder which fitted nicely into the LEGO train motor, but I discovered some problems using it: I could read the registers, but not write. I sometimes lost contact (...) (21 years ago, 18-Sep-03, to lugnet.trains)

Yeah. I'll retract those two rules. They are too limiting. I tried to build a sample train/corridor model and it just doesn't fit : ( I think if we're going to do trains we need to revisit the corridor height/setback again. Even the new 10 brick (...) Mike brings up some good points about clearances etc., but I think we can avoid these problems all together with two simple rules : 1. Moonbase trains = six studs wide max. Why not run the train tracks in the space that is already reserved for transport systems ? I assumed that was the original plan all along : ) It still works if you stick in more straight pieces. Pedro, I have experimented with many different mechanisms for auto-discharging hoppers, although none have been like the one you describe. I've been wondering that as well. Brian's layout is an excellent blend of castle and train. This picture: (URL) simply stunning. But it is not for purists! Custom labels are used throughout. (Gasp!)
