Yeah, I'll do that.  And I'll experiment with reasonably-constructed trains to
see what can fit under the new connectors.  Being a spacehead also heavily
invested in trains, I have experience using both.

I ALSO think we should scrap trains for NWBC and concentrate on
monorail & moonways; these two travel options are less space-
intensive (SPACE).  Let's get some measurements & logistics worked
out.

The NWBC layout should be huge, so we can probably run one train line around the
perimeter.  Perhaps a second line could run through the middle, and we can run
some upper-level bridge modules over that line.  That is probably a better
solution to large trains in the long run anyway- just run them under modules
that only connect at the 20-brick height.

We shouldn't compromise the integrity of the MB standards much more
to accomodate bigger train cars.  If trains can't adhere to a 6-wide
standard with some spillover greebling, our MB's get smaller &
smaller.

We're not going to devolve to the 6-wide versus 8-wide argument here are we?
That's the biggest ongoing whinefest on the .trains group.  Let John Neal stay
in the present (genre, that is), and let the future rest with the Lego-set
standard of 6-wide plus minor greebling.  This isn't a train layout that happens
to have a couple moonbase modules where they can be squeezed in- this is a
moonbase module layout with a bit of track squeezed in.

It should ALWAYS be about the MoonBase, not the accessories.

Amen.

(...) This is going to be impossible to nail down until an actual layout is done at NWBrickCon (hope I spelled that right). Some modules don't have connectors on all sides. I think that someone should take track at NWBC and use it to eyeball trouble (...) (21 years ago, 16-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.trains)
