There definitely are advanatges to both systems. I do like the barriers because not only do they minimize the reaching, they also contain train crashes. The Brick-brick mutilation is based on a repetitive masonry pattern on the side of a 1x4 brick. The 1x4's can either be staggered (crossing lines when stacked) or vertically stacked. I have to agree with Larry, in that the "charm" of the swap is the physical containers as well as the stickers, and knowing that the container itself traveled a great distance to be included in the layout. (...) I'e been to a few larger layouts (HO and O scale) that are permanently housed in buildings in the greater Southern Ontario area. It makes it easier to keep an eye on the play area (about the only thing I ever did was ask the kids to share a little better). We also tried a kid controlled loop (...)
