Painting Wheels?

Because of the lack of large train wheels, I'm thinking of painting old red
and white large spoked wheels black and or grey for a few MOC's I've
started. My question, it there a specific paint that I should use? I prefer
something that is easily accesible (Home Depot, Lowe's, toys stores). I know
a true AFOL should not use paint, but on the other hand a truely responsive
Lego company would produce such wheels... :>).
