Hi there, I just came across a micro gyroscopic sensor Development Kit on: (URL) device would make a very nice turn and spin sensor for the RCX. I'm in the middle or working out the circuit for my gray encoder sensor and looking at the various interface schemes. 1) If you have a serial tower, there is no reason I can think of to purchase the USB tower. If you use a USB tower, then you will need the USB support that Robolab 2.5 provides. 2) The hardware differences between the 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 bricks are (...) I suspect this is due to the fact that the first sample from the sensor is actually being obtained while the sensor's reservoir capacitor is still charging. Hellow! Here a little fact: the first reading on the light sensor _just_ after you have activated it is too high. It seems like one has to wait a little after activating the sensor. Does anyone has measurements for the mass of Mindstorms components (in grams)? I am particularly interested in the mass of the RCX brick (with batteries), the gearmotors, and the motorcycle-style wheels/tires. I am having a remarkably hard time (...) I'm working on a kernel mode driver for Linux for the IR Tower. Overall from everything I've figured out, this is just a USB Serial device; porting code in win32 from COM1 (Serial interface from old serial one) -> LEGOTOWER1 (The USB Tower device (...) A power adapter port? As in an AC/DC plug on the RCX? I've heard the RCX1.0 has them but I didn't see one on my RCX 2.0 (says RCX 2.0 on the top too, all fancy like..heh). Here is an interesting paper on using NQC to control motor speed. A similar technique could be used in leJOS: (URL) paper has lots of interesing ideas in it besides motor speed control. These new features include support for the Lego camera and USB tower, support for Control Lab and the Scout brick, LASM support, support for the new RCX firmware for functions like events, auto-wire, better (...) As long as there is some surface for the IR to bounce off, the bricks do not have to face each other. Sending messages is the technique that is used and is very effective. (...) This normally means that NQC.EXE is not in a directory on the system path nor is it in the same directory as RCX.EXE. The simplest fix is the put NQC.EXE in the same directory as RCX.EXE. Ok, I agree with the *possibility* of the name being a problem, but I am more concerned about the hacks themselves being contested instead. However, LegOS is NOT for commercial purposes, so that should be a factor to consider here. I wouldn't be AS (...) Robolab 2.0 fails to load when used on a Win2000 PC running several recent v5.x and v6.x versions of PC Duo NetSupport network monitoring package. The way I read the article it didn't seem that they were so much upset that he had come up with the new OS, but rather that he had named it legOS. No matter how you look at it, or what excuse he can come up for choosing that name, it is pushing the (...)
