Hi there,
I just came across a micro gyroscopic sensor Development Kit on:

This device would make a very nice turn and spin sensor for the RCX.
Unfortuantely I don't own a Mindstorms box yet (My kids are still too small)
and I just thought you guys might be interested.
keep me posted if this really leads to a new sensor.
