  pc com port woes

Today, for the first time, I decided to actually try out the new version of IC on my new Pentium, running Win 95. To make a long story short, it doesn't work. Why? Because I've got two devices, my mouse and my internal modem, which are always (...) (28 years ago, 23-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Using low voltage motors

I'm using two low voltage motors that come attached to a really cool gear box. Or rather I want to use these motors. Each seems to work best at about 2.0 V. When running they draw about 200 mA. I tried running them in series with a 40 Ohm resistor (...) (28 years ago, 23-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: HB pins ?

(...) Each sensor "connector" is a column of pins in the following format, where "X" denotes a pin position: X X X So, if you look at the lower edge of the HB, you have 16 positions in a bank of 9 and 7: XXX...XXX XXXXXXX XXX...XXX XXXXXXX XXX...XXX (...)   Re: HB pins ?

(...) Check out a diaram that I uploaded to cher. It's in postscript as well as GIF format. It has all of this suff on it (and more). I made it out of frustration while I was working on my HB!   Re: HB pins ?

Go to the Handy Board web page and follow the links to the schematic diagrams. These will probably answer most of your questions. I have to look them up myself, every now and then. Larry (...) (28 years ago, 22-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: HB pins ?

(...) You might want to check the handy board web site, at (URL) as it gives a diagram of the function of each connector on the board. Also, there's a document about interfacing sensors to the handy board which will give you a pretty good idea of (...) (28 years ago, 22-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  HB pins ?

So far, I don't know wihch is which in the HB I/O pins, I know that 0 to 6 are analog in, and 7 to 15 are dig. in, but I want to know which one is PA1, TOC1, ... and also what does the first row means, the second , the third, and for some of them (...)   Re: it works!

(...) Great Jeff, I've been planning on doing the definitive breadboard/diagram and document here but haven't gotten to it. Don't worry overmuch about "oversaturation", you are using the transistors as switches and as long as you don't violate the (...) (28 years ago, 22-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

IR & Modules / Need help

I am installing a couple IR emitters and two Radio Shack / Sony IR modules for close in object avoidance. Two main questions: 1) Which software do I use? I have R22-ir.icb which seems to be for the 6.720 Rev. 2.2 board. Will that work? 2) Where does (...) (28 years ago, 21-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  "cher" archives

OK, I know this is going to sound like a stupid question to most of you, but here goes: I've noticed more than a few referrals to "the cher archives" since I've been on this mailing list, but I haven't figured out how to get there.   it works!

Hey, it's time to celebrate! :-) I managed to get the h-bridge circuit working, after thinking about it for a while, tinkering a bit, and reading a couple chapters on transistors... :-) I can run a motor forward and backward, with no problem. (...) Yup. Worked for me. :-) I used port D on the HB as a 4 bit output, ran a cable from there to port C on the MB, and used one of the Y signals on the HB as a data ready line.   Handy and mini boards

Has any one thought of the possibility of interfacing a miniboard to a handyboard? It would be a cheap way to get extra input/ motor control. Is this possible? (28 years ago, 21-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  RE: diodes in h-bridge

When the motor power is removed, the motor generates a reverse voltage. This voltage can damage the transistors, the diodes provide a conductive path back to the power supply to absorb these spikes.
