Does anyone know the current rating on the 5V voltage regulator located next
to the power switch? I am using a bunch of IR sensors, and am supplying
power to them via the +5 V bus, but my VR seems to be getting quite hot.
The sensors draw around 500mA, which might cause a 500mA VR to get quite
hot. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks... -Zak

| (...) The rated total is 1 amp. The HB itself draws 100 to 200 mA? I'm not sure, I haven't measured it exactly. Since the HB's battery is 9.6v, and the output voltage of the regulator is 5v, the thing drops 4.6v, and at 600 to 700 mA of current that (...) (29 years ago, 6-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
