There is away around this. Configure your com ports to use a different
IRQ. Typically the second parallel port IRQ (5) is available. If neither
your modem nor your com ports will do this then you will need to buy a
new com port board that has configurable IRQs (other than 3,4). The
normal PS/2 mouse IRQ is 12 so if your port will handle that (needs to
be a 16 bit card to get to the high IRQ numbers) then you can use
that for your mouse and free up a com port for other use.
