Yes, you need to use a serial card inside your computer that offers add'l
com ports. It isn't clear from your message if that is what you have. If
so, the trick you are missing is that multiple com ports cannot share the
same IRQ. Most or all serial cards allow you to select an IRQ and I/O
address for each port - just set the IRQ and base I/O address for com3 to an
unused ports.
Then you tell Windows which I/O address and IRQ you have set that port to.
IC should work fine from there using the new com port.
