When the motor power is removed, the motor generates a reverse voltage.
This voltage can damage the transistors, the diodes provide a conductive
path back to the power supply to absorb these spikes. Convieniently,
N-channel MOSFETs (and other mosfets) have a parasitic diode that
provides the same function.
