I have a small layout in my office at home set up on the floor. In our house we have hardwood floors with area rugs. My layout is right near the edge of an area rug and it keeps sliding towards the edge of the rug. I don't run the train that often (...) (25 years ago, 6-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

Mostly agree, but one thing to note is that... (...) 4536 was an aberration. Lego has never made another hopper like it. I've got to agree, the 4565 is probally the best train set on the shelves right now...I much prefer the 4559 Cargo Railway to the newer 4561 but 4559s are getting hard to find. If you want a ready to go passenger train your pretty much stuck with (...) (25 years ago, 5-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

The best currently availably train set is the 4565 Freight and Crane Railway. The best ever, in nearly everyone's opionion(including mine), is the 4558 Metroliner, but get out about $500 for one MISB. I own one and like it. (...) (25 years ago, 5-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

If you mean the bottom piece, I think black, grey and yellow are the only colors it has appeared in. If you go to the Hobby Store and talk to one of the knowledgeable individuals they will point you in the direction of I believe "easy off" by Polly Scale. I've had my can for almost 5 years and can remove decals that have been on for years or cover (...) (25 years ago, 2-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

Decals that have had nothing sprayed on them should come off fine if you soak them long enough. They adhere with a water based adhesive. Solvaset basically softens the plastic enough to get it to conform to irregular surfaces, so you SHOULD still be (...) (25 years ago, 2-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

Nothing new about this German red double decker passenger train except for some new pictures. (URL) was able to borrow a digital camera and do better than laying the model on its side on a flatbed scanner finally. The double decker train is still in (...) So, I have been thinking about using some Conrail decals, and I understand that you soak them in water, float them off their backing, and float them onto the train. Jonathan, I, too, have had an idea such as this, although I have put it on the back burner with regards to my other projects. I do have a few suggestions: #1 - back off on the regulations. Just because DAT files are not available doesn't mean a (...) (25 years ago, 1-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)
