what do you mean by cad instructions vs. rendered images. Do you like the
graphic output by ldraw, but not when it has been further rendered by
pov-ray?

Yes. Rendered images a re not appropriate for building instructions.

Scout programs can be listed in a .txt file. The scout can be programmed in
NQC (just like the RCX) or Lego's Scout Assembler, both of which are text
files.

I didn't know that. Dont you need to have an IR tower to do that though?

Personally, I like rendered images. What do you have against them?

I have had some very bad experiences in the past with povray and I have sworn
that I wont go any where near the thing ever again.
