what do you mean by cad instructions vs. rendered images. Do you like the
graphic output by ldraw, but not when it has been further rendered by
pov-ray?

Scout programs can be listed in a .txt file. The scout can be programmed in
NQC (just like the RCX) or Lego's Scout Assembler, both of which are text
files.

Personally, I like rendered images. What do you have against them?
