To All,

I can understand people who don't go for the
action-figury sets, they are
pretty darn untraditional for Lego, but to disregard all
these fun sets just
because they aren't all boxy?

Well, speaking as someone who is seeing decline of sets in
all themes, from town to TECHNIC sets, I think I can
understand the frustration. Throwbots and Bionicles are not
really what I think of as TECHNIC sets, and th econtinuing
development of sets of this nature makes me wonder of the
direction that TLC seems to be making. Sometimes it looks
liek they see light, other times not.

As for fun, it depends on who the user is. I thought
Throwbots were boring, and Bionicles don't do anything for
me either. But thats me.

I thought that the cyber slam sets weren't that bad but the
throwbots/roboriders/bionicles are quite pathetic in my opinion. I thought
that the Technic line was certainly moving in the right direction until some
of the 1999 sets and the 2000 sets were released. The 8444 and 8448 models
weren't that bad but certainly were not as advanced as their respective 8412
and 8880 predecessors. I would have to say that the 8446 model was a very
nice set though, even more so when compared to relative mediocrity of the
other sets of its time. Things seem to have gotten worse with the 2000 line.
The 8458 Silver Champion is way, way too expensive for what you get. (but is
otherwise actually a pretty nice set) The 8457 set seems to have a nice
selection of pieces but from what I've heard it doesn't include a
differential. I find that somewhat strange, since even really small sets
like the 8408 included a differential. The 8279 model looks interesting but
does not appear to have steering or suspension. (again, only what I've
heard; not sure about this) I still have hopes for the Technic line though,
since from what I've seen so far the 8466 4x4 Off-roader it looks like a
very good model. What I really wish Lego would do is re-offer all the
service packs from the last ten years...would really improve matters...
