Tobbe, This is a nice looking model, especially with all the functions. As to more traction, you could use alternating regular chain links and tread links and mount a 1x4 plate on each tread link, studs out. I'm not sure how realistic this would (...) It's been interesting to follow the progress of the creation of this model, and the finished model is certainly great! Gaurav, Certainly isn't in my case, these motors are stalled so bad I can't get them to move at all now unless I stick a 24t gear on them and turn them by hand. Rob, Did you ever get any answers to this query? I also have three of the newer Technic motors that have seized. (Out of a collection of about 10 motors that's a 30% failure rate - not good!) I built an 8846 tow truck from spare parts and replaced many of the connectors with black number 6s. However, because the new connectors cannot be made fixed with respect to rotation about the axle (which was possible through the use of the half (...) (25 years ago, 30-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic)

I tend to agree with this point of view. The old toggle connectors do still enable solutions that would otherwise be impossible with only 'current' Lego pieces, but they are about the only piece that has been phased out that I tend to 'miss' in the (...) (25 years ago, 30-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic)

I bought mine in Dublin last year. Every toy shop seemed to have a few on the shelfs. The 8456 Fiber-Optic Multi Set also includes ones of these. The only thing I don't like about these is that the switch is somewhat hard to operate (some practice is required) and that it can only send current in one direction. It also runs out of (...) (25 years ago, 29-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic)
