Okay, got it. So if I can place the wheel in a "fork" with powering to
the wheel by gears and then make the "fork" turnable, like when
spinning spaghetti on an ordinary fork, the pivot point will be
centered in the middle of the wheel.
Could it be that hard to make this "fork"? Sounds like something worth
checking out, should be easy to change the forks design to fit most
wheels out there :)
E.g. like the front of a bike but with 2wd, this exists:

(I've seen some bicycles too, but I didn't find any pics on the net in
my quick search except one that used a "cord" to connect the front and
rear wheel: http://www.spicercycles.com/graphic/2twd.jpg ).
The problem would be the height of the setup and the fact that it
doesn't look like something on a normal vehicle but in my case this
doesn't matter.
I'd like to go home now, dang work :)
Oh, almost forgot, thanks Fredrik!

| (...) I wasn't too clear myself, so no worries. Take a normal LEGO steering setup, e.g. like on 8660. When turning the steering wheels, they turn around the pivot point, that is the centre of the pin which connects into the end holes of the 1x8 (...) (24 years ago, 1-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic)
