hi, as many others, i also want to succeed in building legOS (0.2.2). :) my platform is linux, kernel 2.0.38, glibc1. i've builded binutils-2.9.1.0.25 and gcc-2.95.2 as described in the howto. version 0.1.7 works just fine, but if i attempt to build (...) We have sorted out the getopt.h problems by just copying the getopt.c and getopt.h into the dll-src directory (because it is a known path for the Makefile (...) (...) getopt.h is part of the standard gnu C libraries. In a normal Linux system, it is in /usr/include/. What compiler are you using on Solaris? Is it gcc or something else? Hi Erik, Starting after the 1.0.7 version, echo from RCX was disabled (controlled by RCX_ECHO variable, off by default). Current version (1.1.0 as I remember) shouldn't show any echo. Well, it's hard to say what the problem might be. Since you've got the green LED going, you've probably got the cable wired correctly. And yes, it's 2400 baud, 1 start, 1 stop, 8 data, odd parity. As I understand it, the patch provides support for interrupts, which, at least from my glance over the code, are necessary only for LNP stuff. (Markus, feel free to correct me on this.) Don't know much about the compiler differences (except that I thought most of the 1.1.2->2.9.5 differences would mainly cause compile-time failures, not run-time) but I have compiled every legOS thing I've done (including 0.2.1) with 1.1.2. The basic difference between PCs/PalmPilots/WinCE IR ports and the RCX is a different physical transmission/modulation protocol. Hi Pavel, check out the program loader. Basically, you have to register your own port handler for incoming packets on the PC. Hi Ralph, Finally I got it to work. Now there is XMODEM protocol and S-record writer on top of it. SAVE-SYSTEM word has been redefined to produce S-record image. I received my free (+$3.95 P&H) upgrade kit today and was pleasantly surprised ( or should that be AMAZED, Y-A-H-O-O-O-O!!!! and THANK YOU LEGO) to see that was NOT just a software upgrade, as I had thought, but the full #3803 "RIS 1.5 UPGRADE KIT" (...) Wes, I'm sorry; I missed the Rcx Motor info... If the Rcx Motors start/run with 6V but don't work with the Rcx Outputs, something is 'Funny'. Hi Martin, the FD_ZERO bug sounds interesting. Maybe there's a way to work around this issue in a more portable way? Like, remove /usr/include from the Makefile and hope for the best? My native compiler is gcc 2.95.1, for cross compiling i built gcc 2.95.2, after applying the rcx-interrupt patch. compiling the dll and makelx utilities was a little (...) Apparently, standard gcc include files are processed as well. This should never happen, as legOS defines everything on its own. The simple thing would be to do the short delay in the software. Identical relays usually 'make' faster than they 'break' due to energy stored in the magnetic circuit. It's hard to do this without active components. If you use a typical small (...) (25 years ago, 9-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)
